What We Do!
The Learning Home is an English language development centre offering short courses for children aged 6 to 14 in the following areas:
Reading & Writing English
Mathematical Vocabulary for Problem Solving
The World Around Us
How Things Work
Happy, Healthy Me
Digital Literacy
Our programmes are designed to extend each pupil’s vocabulary, language skills, and academic understanding through a communicative approach. We believe that language is learned most effectively when it is used and applied in meaningful, real-world contexts. By engaging pupils in interactive learning experiences, we help them develop the confidence and skills needed to communicate, think critically, and succeed academically.
Pushing Pupils' Progress
Our centre has been carefully designed to provide a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment where children can thrive. We believe that a structured and positive atmosphere helps pupils develop confidence, build strong learning habits, and achieve their full potential.
Each pupil’s language development and understanding of the world around them are at the heart of everything we do. To support and accelerate learning, we guarantee the following for every child:
🎓 Qualified Teachers (Degree-qualified educators with TEFL certification)
👥 Small Class Sizes (Maximum of 16 pupils per class)
📚 Modern Learning Facilities (All books and stationery provided)
💻 Access to Computers within the centre
🌐 Online Learning Platforms so language learning can continue at home
By combining high-quality teaching, excellent resources, and personalised support, we create the best possible conditions for every pupil to achieve their language and learning goals.
Our Ethos
At The Learning Home, we believe that every child deserves access to the highest quality education. We are committed to maintaining high standards every day by providing engaging learning experiences that encourage active participation, expose pupils to rich and meaningful language, and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Through this approach, pupils develop both their academic knowledge and their vocabulary in a natural and purposeful way.
We recognise the significant impact that class size can have on a child’s learning and development. For this reason, we maintain small class sizes of 12–16 pupils, creating an environment where a variety of learning approaches can be used effectively. Pupils benefit from opportunities to work independently, in pairs, and in groups of different sizes, helping them develop both academic and social skills.
Our small-class-size policy also allows teachers to give each child the attention they deserve. With a manageable number of pupils in each class, teachers can closely monitor progress, provide personalised support, and accurately assess each child’s academic achievement and social development.
🎓 Highly Qualified
Teachers
All of our teaching staff hold bachelor’s degrees or higher, have received extensive training in teaching methodology and pedagogy, and bring a wealth of classroom experience. Their expertise enables them to deliver lessons that are engaging, challenging, and carefully tailored to the needs of each age group and ability level.
By combining exceptional teaching, personalised support, and a nurturing learning environment, we help every child reach their full potential.

Your Options
The Learning Home understands the vulnerable nature of change for expat families, so we offer three options to suit your family’s needs.
Flexible
Enrol in individual courses to support your child’s learning alongside their home studies. Each course runs for 8 weeks, and enrolment requires a full 8-week fee commitment to enrol (see the Fee Policy for more details).
Block-by-Block
This option allows your child to access our full schedule in four-week blocks. It is the ideal option for expat families who know they will only be in the area for several months. It will give your child an enriched education whilst away from their usual routine.
Ten-Block-Bundle
Sign up to our whole year's academic calendar and your child will receive a discounted offer for each block. Please refer to our current fee policy for more information.
Co-operative Enrichment Events
Throughout the year, our pupils participate in a variety of educational excursions and enrichment experiences that provide meaningful, real-world opportunities to use and develop their language skills. These experiences bring learning to life, helping pupils make connections between the classroom and the world around them.
Following each excursion, pupils are encouraged to share what they have seen, done, and discovered. Their enthusiasm to communicate about their experiences helps build confidence, fluency, and a genuine desire to use language for a purpose. Language development is further strengthened as pupils express their learning through a range of activities, including creative writing, presentations, discussions, and the production of videos for our YouTube channel.
Throughout the year, pupils also take part in a range of performance-based enrichment activities. Through role-play, script work, public speaking, and stage performances, children develop their communication skills in a creative and engaging environment. These experiences encourage pupils to speak with confidence, expression, and imagination while developing teamwork, resilience, and self-belief.
By providing opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, we help pupils become confident communicators who are eager to share their ideas, experiences, and understanding with others.
Please note that programme fees and prices may be reviewed and adjusted annually.
The Learning Home's Story
The Learning Home was established in 2018 by Emma and Joeli Ravai, two fully qualified teachers with a combined total of more than 30 years of teaching experience in the United Kingdom.
After relocating to Da Nang in 2014, Emma and Joeli quickly fell in love with the city and decided to make it their home. As parents of two young children, they soon discovered that there were limited educational options available that met the needs of international families. As a result, they chose to educate their own children at home.
What began as a small home-education group soon attracted the interest of other families facing similar challenges. Recognising the importance of providing children with both a structured learning environment and opportunities to build friendships, Emma and Joeli welcomed more pupils into the programme.
As the community continued to grow, they worked closely with the Da Nang Department of Education and Training to ensure that all legal and educational requirements were fully met.
In September 2018, The Learning Home was officially granted its licence by the local authorities. Since then, the centre has continued to grow, supporting families and providing high-quality educational opportunities for children in the Da Nang expatriate community.
Today, The Learning Home remains committed to its founding vision: creating a nurturing, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child can flourish, while keeping quality education accessible and affordable for families.
